What are hard skills?

No, hard skills haven’t anything to do with physical skills, like fitness. In fact, they are technical skills that can be measured and that we learn in order to perform activities more easily and better. One of the most famous and required today is Excel, which is not necessarily used only by people in the exact area, a common and useful use of this program is for personal control of financial expenses.

For a long time, hard skills were the only way of assessing candidates in selection processes, which was not at all incorrect, after all they are easy to identify, and many areas really do require specific knowledge, for example not just anyone can draw blood, the professionals who are qualified are those who have undergone some kind of targeted training to learn. To guarantee this knowledge there are certificates, licenses and tests applied to confirm a certain level.

Here are some examples of well-known hard skills to help you get to grips with the subject:

  • Programming

  • Office Suite

  • Foreign language

  • Project creation

  • Design

  • Machine and equipment operation

  • Teaching
